The Girls at 17 Swann Street by Yara Zgeib
Coming at you with my newest one day read!
Alright so the premise of this book is that this dancer has anorexia and follows her throughout her journey at a facility on 17 Swann Street.
I have read multiple books written about this subject and in this format. I think this may be my favorite.
We meet Anna. Anna is in love with this guy with a very complicated name that American girls like me don't know how to spell, let alone say. Anyways, the book is back and forth between the past and the present and I found myself loving every page of it. We see her in her early wedded days with (me searching for the name) Matthias and how she went from being a "normal" girl who loved food and spent her days being happy and having fun with friends to someone who feels like she's not enough for her husband after they got married.
I could give you more information but you should read the book for yourself!!! (lol i got this book yesterday and couldn't finish my other ones... i was too excited)
This book put my life in perspective and caused me to think a lot...
So all in all
Characters: 5/5
they were very well developed and really gave us the spectrum of what having an eating disorder really means. We have loss, love and the art of learning yourself all in one book!
Plot 4.75/5
It was a really good plot, but I skimmed over some of the details that seemed irrelevant.
EMOTIONAL CONNECTION:5/5
I felt so connected with Anna. Her victories were my victories and I fought for her reading in my comfortable blankets lol.
All in all I'm giving it a 4.9.
