Verity by Colleen Hoover
3 stars.
Verity honestly captivated me.
I thought that the actual characters weren't horrible. I liked that the book made me actually question about who I should believe instead of feeding me the details like ordinary books. I'm definitely a fan of unreliable narrators like all of the MCs in Poe's work. Immaculate really.
Now the question everyone wants to know the answer to. I feel like I'm Team Manuscript. Verity was super creepy and the letter seemed very convenient in case Jeremy ever decided to do something. It was some type of insurance that was just - too obvious IMO. But I respect y'all that say letter because I could see that too. This book was definitely a mindfuck.
Alright, now the reason for three stars.
Honestly, I would've rated it 2 stars, but I did three just because of how thought provoking this was. I read this several months ago and I can still remember the feelings that it evoked from me, the utter uncertainty.
In my opinion, the characters were a little flat and the plot was a little- I don't want to say predictable because I definitely did not predict the letter. But. Convenient. Obvious? In some ways. There needs to be more words in the English language. It's a cross between predictable and convenient. Why can't we have 7 words for one word like the Greeks for love?
